Denpasar (Antara Bali) - The Bali provincial
government is looking into the possibility of establishing cooperation
with Tsing Hua University, the best institute of higher learning in
China.
"I want this cooperation to be realized as quickly as possible and
it must proceed in a sustainable manner," Bali Made Mangku Pastika said
at a meeting with the university`s rector, Cheng Xu, at the Denpasar
Cultural Gallery here on Saturday.
He expressed the hope that as a result of such cooperation, Balinese
students would be able to pursue higher education at the university.
Moreover, the university, a partner of Massachusetts Institute of
Technology in the US, is known for its globally-recognized strength in
the field of information technology.
Besides exchange of students, he also expressed the hope that the
cooperation would expand and will include sending staff members of
universities in Bali to China to attend training courses.
Pastika informed that the Bali provincial government currently has a
sister province arrangement with the Chinese provinces of Hainan and
Yunan and is seeking to establish such cooperation with other Chinese
provinces.
Meanwhile, Cheng Xu expressed his gratitude to the Bali governor for the warm welcome he received during his visit to Bali.
He underlined his seriousness to establish intensive cooperation
with Indonesia, particularly with Bali, in the education field. Both
sides could start the cooperation by exchanging students to study each
other`s culture.
Looking ahead, the cooperation could be expanded to make Bali a hub
for the university`s research programs, he added. (WDY)
